Abstract
Nous nous proposons d’étudier ici l’effet négatif du discours hégémonique sur la construction de l’identité et la résistance que peut lui opposer le dominé en vue d’assurer sa survie. Nous cernerons d’abord la Métisse mythique de l’Ouest canadien, pour ensuite discuter des théories de Julia Kristeva sur l’abjection qui nous permettront de comprendre les causes et effets du besoin de l’homme blanc d’imposer son système patriarcal à tous ceux avec qui il entre en contact. Nous approfondirons enfin le personnage de Miranda dans Cantique des plaines afin de déterminer comment le discours hégémonique se transforme chez Nancy Huston.
