Abstract
Cet article fait le point sur la valeur de l’autorité véhiculée dans les livres les plus lus par les enfants francophones de 8 à 12 ans, à partir d’une enquête effectuée dans les bibliothèques publiques de la ville de Montréal, en 1968. Il met en relief certaines conceptions archaïques de l’autorité, surtout en ce qu’elle a d’autoritaire par rapport aux conceptions modernes. Il semble démontrer le peu de connaissances ou d’intuitions que les auteurs de littérature enfantine possèdent dans le domaine, ou illustrer, de ce fait, le décalage qui existe entre la littérature (produit social) et les idéologies nouvelles de la société contemporaine en ce qui concerne, en particulier, la possibilité d’une coéducation harmonieuse entre adultes et enfants.
