Explains the concept of the supply chain and describes kinds of supply chains that might be appropriate for different industries and products. Describes the changes that have taken place in supply chains recently, principally as a result of opportunities afforded by technology advances and outlines the reasons for pro‐active management of a supply chain and its associated technical underpinnings.
