Le contact entre le travailleur social et le migrant est sujet à de nombreux malentendus. La méconnaissance de la culture de l’autre, des sollicitations parfois contradictoires entre son pays d’origine et la société d’accueil, crée le risque d’une incompréhension notable. Le professionnel doit s’efforcer de créer les conditions d’un véritable échange. Au préalable, afin de déjouer les stéréotypes attachés à l’identité culturelle, il s’agit d’en repérer le fonctionnement au sein de toute relation humaine.
