Abstract
Les arts occupent une position de choix dans toutes les réflexions portant sur le double processus de régénération et de conservation du patrimoine à l'œuvre pendant la Révolution. Mais l'imagerie populaire, très importante dans toutes les provinces, a été jusqu'à présent un peu oubliée des travaux des historiens. Son rôle dans la construction de la mémoire des événements est étudié ici à travers le récit de l'histoire de deux « saintes patriotes » de l'Ouest, Marie Martin et Perrine Dugué, et des figurations qui sont faites de leurs morts ; les relations entre les ateliers provinciaux qui sont présentés ici devraient pouvoir donner lieu à une grande enquête nationale.
