Abstract
Aujourd’hui menacé de disparition, l’occitan, langue traditionnelle du sud de la France, produit une littérature qui, simultanément, imagine une identité occitane et en conçoit la nature illusoire. Il se développe ainsi dans la thématique des métiers traditionnels et du labeur agricole, trop souvent considérée comme le signe d’un repli identitaire, une rhétorique paradoxale consistant, certes, à exprimer la nostalgie d’un passé révolu, mais aussi à affirmer subtilement la nécessité de s’affranchir de celui-ci et à mettre en relief le rôle de l’écrivain en tant qu’acteur social extérieur au milieu décrit.
