Abstract
La culpabilité du survivant a souvent été évoquée pour tenter de comprendre la souffrance chez des personnes ayant échappé à des massacres. Au moyen d’une analyse qualitative, cet article explore la question du rapport à la survie chez neuf hommes rwandais rescapés du génocide de 1994. L’idée selon laquelle la survie représenterait, pour ces hommes, une forme de don à la fois précieux et accablant se dégage de leurs récits. La dynamique à travers laquelle le don s’articule au contre-don dans la vie des sujets suite au génocide met en relief l’intrication du personnel et du collectif dans la construction du sens donné à la survie.
