Abstract
En este artículo se analiza la formación y definición de los Fueros de la Provincia de Gipuzkoa desde el siglo XV hasta principios del siglo XVIII, cuando éstos fueron recopilados y aprobados por el monarca castellano. Los contenidos específicos de dichos Fueros, en particular en materia militar, fiscal, comercial y financiera, fueron a menudo determinados a partir de la resolución de conflictos entre el poder superior del rey hispánico y las autoridades de Gipuzkoa. Las prácticas políticas cotidianas fueron, junto a las normas jurídicas provinciales y reales, las que definieron los contenidos de las libertades, exenciones, usos y costumbres particulares de la Provincia, elementos articuladores esenciales de los Fueros guipuzcoanos.
