Abstract
Le présent article s'inspire des résultats d'une recherche sur les caractéristiques des travailleuses vieillissantes pour présenter quelques-uns des principaux aspects de la question du vieillissement des femmes au travail. Il traite d'abord brièvement de la gestion des ressources humaines au regard de la main-d’œuvre vieillissante, puis expose des données mettant en relief quelques distinctions importantes entre la situation des femmes et des hommes vieillissants sur le marché du travail. L'article fait ensuite état des tendances démographiques générales caractérisant le Canada afin de bien comprendre dans quel contexte se présente le vieillissement des femmes et des hommes. Puis, il aborde les caractéristiques propres à la main-d’œuvre âgée de 45 à 64 ans, en mettant en évidence la situation propre aux femmes. Enfin, il tente de dégager les principaux enjeux au regard de l'évolution démographique actuelle et future et propose quelques pistes de solution qui pourraient améliorer la situation des femmes.
