Abstract
Le département de relations industrielles de l’Université du Québec en Outaouais (UQO) 2 a commémoré ses 17 années d’existence en février 2009. Sa création au début de 1992 n’est toutefois pas à l’origine de l’enseignement des relations industrielles à l’UQO. La nouvelle entité départementale est plutôt l’aboutissement d’un long processus de développement de programmes d’études complémentaires dans le domaine des relations industrielles ayant débuté à la fin des années 1970. Nous présentons, dans cet article, les principales étapes de ce développement, la philosophie qui lui était sous-jacente et la constitution progressive de l’équipe professorale qui lui était indispensable. Nous examinons également les principaux indicateurs du succès des programmes d’études en relations industrielles dans l’Outaouais : l’évolution des effectifs étudiants et de la diplomation, la progression des activités de recherche et l’étendue des services à la collectivité du corps professoral.
