La façon dont la négligence envers l’enfant est conceptualisée dans les recherches de pointe a un impact notable sur l’organisation des services et les pratiques professionnelles auprès des familles touchées par cette problématique au Québec. Il apparaît donc important de décrire le portrait des parents que ces recherches de pointe génèrent. Cet article examine la structure épistémologique, théorique et méthodologique qui sous-tend la production de ce type de savoir en s’appuyant sur une analyse qualitative d’articles récents publiés dans l’une des plus importantes revues internationales dans le domaine. Les résultats montrent que les recherches de pointe produisent des connaissances sur la négligence envers l’enfant qui excluent plus ou moins radicalement le point de vue des parents et des enfants directement impliqués dans ces situations.
