Abstract

fetched live from OpenAlex

Simultaneous measurements of the $t\overline{t}$, ${W}^{+}{W}^{\ensuremath{-}}$, and $Z/{\ensuremath{\gamma}}^{*}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}\ensuremath{\tau}\ensuremath{\tau}$ production cross-sections using an integrated luminosity of $4.6\text{ }\text{ }{\mathrm{fb}}^{\ensuremath{-}1}$ of $pp$ collisions at $\sqrt{s}=7\text{ }\text{ }\mathrm{TeV}$ collected by the ATLAS detector at the LHC are presented. Events are selected with two high transverse momentum leptons consisting of an oppositely charged electron and muon pair. The three processes are separated using the distributions of the missing transverse momentum of events with zero and greater than zero jet multiplicities. Measurements of the fiducial cross-section are presented along with results that quantify for the first time the underlying correlations in the predicted and measured cross-sections due to proton parton distribution functions. These results indicate that the correlated next-to-leading-order predictions for $t\overline{t}$ and $Z/{\ensuremath{\gamma}}^{*}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}\ensuremath{\tau}\ensuremath{\tau}$ underestimate the data, while those at next-to-next-to-leading-order generally describe the data well. The full cross-sections are measured to be $\ensuremath{\sigma}(t\overline{t})=181.2\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}2.{8}_{\ensuremath{-}9.5}^{+9.7}\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}3.3\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}3.3\text{ }\text{ }\mathrm{pb}$, $\ensuremath{\sigma}({W}^{+}{W}^{\ensuremath{-}})=53.3\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}2.{7}_{\ensuremath{-}8.0}^{+7.3}\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}1.0\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.5\text{ }\text{ }\mathrm{pb}$, and $\ensuremath{\sigma}(Z/{\ensuremath{\gamma}}^{*}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}\ensuremath{\tau}\ensuremath{\tau})=1174\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}2{4}_{\ensuremath{-}87}^{+72}\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}21\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}9\text{ }\text{ }\mathrm{pb}$, where the cited uncertainties are due to statistics, systematic effects, luminosity and the LHC beam energy measurement, respectively. The ${W}^{+}{W}^{\ensuremath{-}}$ measurement includes the small contribution from Higgs boson decays, $H\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{W}^{+}{W}^{\ensuremath{-}}$.

Not calibrated prevalence, not ground truth. Human validation pending. The Gemma side is a direct model label for every work in the frame, read from the title-only record. The Codex side is a classifier learned from the 10,348 direct Codex labels and calibrated to design-weighted sample rates; fields without enough sample support carry no Codex call. Candidate is the union of the two sides; consensus is their intersection. These outputs are machine_predicted_unvalidated and are not human labels.

Machine scores (provisional)

The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.

Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
