Résumé Le flow est issu du champ de la psychologie positive qui a émergé récemment aux États-Unis. L’objectif de cet article est de réaliser une revue de littérature sur le flow (e.g., Csikszentmihalyi, 1975 à 2000 ; Jackson, et al. , 1992 à 2002). Csikszentmihalyi (1990) définit le concept de flow comme un état psychologique optimal pouvant être ressenti dans divers domaines tels l’art, l’enseignement et le sport. Le flow est également caractérisé par un état intrinsèquement agréable qui se manifeste pendant la perception d’un équilibre entre ses compétences personnelles et la demande de la tâche. Nous verrons dans une première partie les origines et l’évolution du concept de flow. Dans une seconde partie, nous tenterons de montrer les enjeux qu’il représente dans le domaine du sport. Dans une troisième partie, nous étudierons les différents outils permettant de le mesurer. Pour conclure, nous proposons plusieurs axes de recherche dans le champ sportif.
