Résumé Par une analyse de cas, les auteurs montrent que les rapports entre les clients et les chauffeurs d’une entreprise de transport en commun s’établissent au gré de la transformation des institutions de la modernité et participent à leur définition : les auteurs proposent l’analyse structurationniste d’Anthony Giddens pour soutenir la compréhension de ces rapports. La recherche s’inscrit dans un effort de révision des rapports entre les clients et les acteurs de l’entreprise et s’appuie sur une conception renouvelée du dualisme structureaction permettant de reconnaître les pratiques de surveillance au titre de pratiques qui non seulement orientent la conduite humaine mais qui de plus en font partie intégrante, et ce de manière réflexive.
