Abstract
Alors que leur synagogue reste close presque toute l’année, qu’un programme immobilier les menace d’expropriation, qu’ils sont toujours trop peu nombreux à se sentir concernés, comment les membres de la communauté juive de Tarbes conçoivent-ils le devenir de leur présence ? La synagogue raconte la fragilité de ce groupe qui ne veut pas abandonner et tente de maintenir un projet dans son espace. L’article vise à repérer la gamme des positions adoptées en commun ou en privé, appuyées sur quelques aspects, ici mis en relief, de l’appartenance au judaïsme. De l’indignation à la résignation en passant par la nostalgie, on prétend encore s’animer dans un projet de synagogue, même si la ténacité peut ralentir un possible redéploiement.
