Abstract
RésuméLes événements révolutionnaires de l’année 1905 en Russie ont généré d’innombrables images. Ce corpus iconographique a contribué au processus d’objectivation historique de la première révolution russe du xxe siècle. Parmi ces images, celles publiées dans la presse illustrée anglaise, française et allemande ont joué un rôle particulièrement important. Au-delà de leur seule valeur de témoignages de l’actualité révolutionnaire russe et de la réception de cette actualité en Europe, ces représentations -- qu’elles illustrent la presse généraliste ou la presse satirique -- ont institué durablement certains archétypes, thèmes et motifs iconographiques. De même les spectres de la Révolution française hantaient Nicolas II dans les caricatures de la presse satirique, les images du Dimanche rouge, de la mutinerie du cuirassé Potemkine et des protagonistes célèbres ou anonymes des luttes de 1905 continuent à conditionner la manière dont ces événements s’inscrivent, dans l’histoire, en révolution. Cet article est une présentation sommaire de représentations où la révolution, sans être toujours nommée, est néanmoins nécessairement anticipée.
