Abstract
RésuméDeux fois dans sa vie, Larry Smith a pris une retraite forcée. La première fois, il avait 31 ans et mettait fin à sa carrière de centre-arrière vedette du club de football Les Alouettes. La deuxième fois, à la suite d’une fusion-acquisition, on l’a mis brusquement à la porte d’une grande entreprise où il œuvrait depuis huit ans, et dont il devait, deux ans plus tard, devenir le président : les nouveaux propriétaires américains rationalisaient les opérations et réduisaient de façon draconienne les effectifs. Les deux fois, Larry Smith a su rebondir, mettant à contribution ses talents de vendeur et de gestionnaire efficace. Après avoir passé deux ans au journal The Gazette dont il était président-éditeur, il annonçait en mars 2004 son retour à la barre du club de football Les Alouettes qu’il avait déjà dirigé plusieurs années auparavant après avoir tenu les rênes de la Ligue canadienne de football. Pour faire face aux imprévus et demeurer toute sa vie un leader, il s’est forgé des points d’ancrage dans des valeurs stables qu’il prend plaisir à partager avec toutes les personnes qui sont intéressées à l’entendre, car Larry Smith est aussi un conférencier recherché.
