Abstract
Historiquement associée à l’immoralité et la criminalité, la prostitution est, encore aujourd’hui, l’objet de croisades morales qui en maintiennent la stigmatisation. Face à ce stigmate, les travailleurs et travailleuses du sexe vont soit le repousser aux autres, soit le remettre en question. Bien que la nature dégradante de cette activité soit posée comme étant due à une aliénation de la sexualité qui aliénerait l’identité et que des travaux de recherche en font un a priori, l’analyse des pratiques indique que ce ne serait pas le cas. Le lien existant entre sexualité et identité n’est pas inhérent, mais est le produit d’une construction sociale visant le contrôle de la sexualité.
