<titre>Résumé</titre>Penser le virtuel à travers les sciences sociales conduit à resituer le terme à partir de son étymologie qui ouvre un champ entre le réel et le possible. Il est une qualité qui incarne toujours la signification du passage du potentiel au réel, c’est donc un flux dynamique qui oscille entre les deux catégories ontologiques. Cette circulation peut s’intégrer dans une culture de la vie quotidienne et intervient alors comme médiation permanente entre la présence et l’absence, et fait culture. Le virtuel, dont la dimension numérique n’est qu’un aspect, est donc une dimension qui nous aide à penser la continuité et la puissance de ce qui existe par rituels et simulations. Il est l’indice de la valeur et de l’immatériel. Cette valeur peut être partagée socialement, un patrimoine commun immatériel, ou faite l’objet d’une évaluation concrète et économique.
