Abstract

The binding of a variety of bimane-labeled lipidated peptides to lipid vesicles substantially enhances the fluorescence intensity of the bimanyl group ( 1 ). This property makes it possible to monitor with high precision the binding of bimane-labeled lipidated peptides to lipid vesicles, avoiding complications that can arise in assays requiring physical separation of free and vesicle-bound populations of amphiphilic molecules. The bimane group itself appears to have little effect on the surface-binding affinity of labeled peptides ( 1 – 3 ). These keywords were added by machine and not by the authors.
