Il existe plusieurs mots ou expressions dans le livre du Qohélet qui n'ont jamais été clarifiés avec certitude, aussi bien par les versions anciennes que par les interprètes médiévaux et modernes. À la lumière de l'histoire de l'exégèse et, pour la première fois dans l'histoire, à la lumière des traductions proposées par les quatre manuscrits judéo-persans provenant de la Bibliothèque nationale de France, la présente étude en analyse six: deux expressions (š iddā wešiddōt en 2,8 et ba'alē y ăsupôt en 12,11) et quatre verbes ( bûr en 9,1 et 'izzēn, hiqqēr et tiqqén en 12,9). Il ressort clairement de cet examen que la vérité du comprendre s'adapte constamment à la finitude de chaque langue, chaque culture et chaque époque et que, par conséquent, le sens du Qohélet se constitue dans l'histoire même de sa réception.
