Abstract
Les tentatives récentes d’élaboration des perspectives des ménages et des familles se fondent très souvent sur la méthode des taux de chefs. Comme nous voulions élaborer de telles perspectives pour le Québec (1971-2001), les régions administratives (1971-1986) et les grands périmètres urbains (1971-1981), nous avons fait tout d’abord un tour d’horizon des différentes méthodologies. Il fallait choisir une méthodologie qui soit applicable compte tenu des données disponibles et du type de résultats que nous désirions (cadre géographique, temporel et qualitatif) : la méthode des taux de chefs a été finalement retenu, bien qu’il soit possible que nous utilisions une méthodologie distincte pour une partie des perspectives des ménages (les perspectives par taille du ménage). Nous présentons dans cet article, en plus d’un résumé synthétique et d’une évaluation des différentes méthodologies des perspectives des ménages et des familles, les critères de sélection de la méthodologie et aussi la façon d’aborder l’étude et le type de résultats que nous obtiendrons.
