Ce numero de Memoires du livre / Studies in book culture explore un domaine encore peu etudie pour lui-meme : les rapports entre livre et jeu video. Ceux-ci sont generalement inclus dans des etudes intermediatiques plus larges[1], melant differentes approches sans se focaliser sur les liens – pourtant nombreux, comme le present dossier le montre – qui se tissent specifiquement entre ces deux medias. Il faut dire que le desequilibre de legitimite entre ceux-ci tend a compliquer l’analyse, car le regard qu’une certaine culture lettree porte generalement sur le jeu video le cantonne dans un role de loisir de masse qu’il est de bon ton d’ignorer[2] (comme la bande dessinee avant lui dans les annees 1980 et 1990 et les « mauvais genres » paralitteraires encore avant). La question de la legitimite traverse d’ailleurs en filigrane ce dossier. Nous y reviendrons.
