Abstract
L'article traite des conclusions du projet Aligner la gestion des documents aux technologies de l'information et de la communication (TIC)/e-gouvernement et accès aux informations dans la Communauté Est Africaine (CEA), subventionné par l'IDRC (Centre de recherche de développement international du Canada) et mené par l'International Records Management Trust (IRMT). Les conclusions sont replacées dans le contexte d'un panorama de l'histoire des archives de l'Etat du Burundi et de l'impact que cela a pu avoir sur la profession d'archiviste et sur les Archives nationales. Les Archives nationales du Burundi ont été créées par décret en 1979 mais depuis que ce texte a été promulgué, il n'a pas été mis en application ni révisé, compromettant ainsi l'efficacité de cette institution en ne tenant pas compte de ses attributions. Les auteurs ont examiné l'impact que la faiblesse de ce mandat archivistique a pu avoir sur la perception des archives par le gouvernement et son implication, ou son manque d'implication, dans les TIC/e-gouvernement et initiatives d'accès à l'information. Dans leur examen, les auteurs tiennent également compte de l'état actuel des initiatives des TIC, cadre des régulations et capacité à fournir une compréhension générale des problèmes de conservation des documents dans tous les secteurs.
