Abstract
La chute du mur de Berlin serait passée inaperçue au Chili, éclipsée par l’enjeu immédiat de la sortie de dictature en pleine campagne électorale à la succession à la présidence du général Pinochet. L’article explore le hiatus entre l’impact de l’événement, tel qu’il peut être retracé dans les journaux et revues du temps, et l’ « oubli » apparent des témoins de l’époque. L’analyse démontre que la crise du socialisme réel a bel et bien cristallisé la rupture entre les deux principales factions de la gauche chilienne : le Parti socialiste et le Parti communiste. Elle retrace le mouvement qui a engendré la faille entre les discours politiques qui circulent dans la sphère publique et l’intelligence privée de l’action politique.
