Abstract

Sur sa lancée comptable et financière, la technique de l'audit a franchi de nouvelles frontières et s'est établie en matière environnementale. La tendance actuelle, au niveau tant national qu’international, est à la normalisation de l'audit environnemental. Nous pensons ici à la venue prochaine des normes ISO de la série 14000 relatives à la gestion environnementale et plus particulièrement aux systèmes de management environnemental, lesquelles introduisent des lignes directrices pour l'audit environnemental. Ce nouveau procédé aide les organisations de toute taille à améliorer leurs performances environnementales, à prévenir les accidents écologiques, à éviter les contraventions aux lois environnementales, etc. C'est ainsi qu'il participe à concrétiser le concept de la diligence raisonnable connu en droit de l'environnement. Par ailleurs, l'audit a des répercussions positives dans le secteur du commerce et des échanges nationaux et internationaux. En matière de protection de l'environnement, l'heure n'est pas seulement aux nouvelles technologies plus performantes mais également aux nouvelles méthodes de gestion.
