Abstract
We are delighted that Industrial & Engineering Chemistry Research is serving once more as the vehicle for the dissemination of a showpiece of articles representative of the papers presented at the third joint international symposia on Catalysis in Multiphase Reactors (CAMURE-7) and on Multifunctional Reactors (ISMR-6) that were held under the umbrella of the Eighth World Congress of Chemical Engineering in Montre ´al, Canada, on August 23-26, 2009.The theme of the conference At the Crossroads of Cleaner & More Sustainable Products & Energy pitches for today's preoccupations on perennation of emerging energy pathways, sustainable products, and reduction of our footprint on the environment.This series of conferences builds on the success of the two previous siblings, CAMURE-5/ISMR-4 and CAMURE-6/ISMR-5, which were held, respectively, in Portoro ˇ, Slovenia, on June 15
