Abstract
Les caricatures de Berthio lors de la visite de la reine en 1964 présentent les événements dans une perspective carnavalesque. Selon Bakhtine, cette métaphore sert de critique à la rigidité de la société. L'analyse sémiotique de quatorze caricatures dégage les métaphores qui composent le message politique du caricaturiste, dont la thématique de base oppose: Anglais/État/ordre public à Québécois/nation/désordre public. Une thématique secondaire oppose Anglais/désordre privé à Québécois/ordre privé. La culture politique exprimée par le caricaturiste semble un indicateur social valable de tendances électorales.
