Résumé Il semble que, sous la pression de la mondialisation, nous soyons en train de vivre un changement de paradigme, le monde des États-nations faisant place à un autre monde, où le fédéralisme fournit la meilleure réponse politique possible à la diversité et à la complexité de la réalité actuelle. C’est dans ce contexte que le Forum des fédérations, dont c’était la première activité importante, a réuni à Mont-Tremblant, au Québec, du 5 au 8 octobre 1999, une conférence internationale sur « le fédéralisme à l’ère de la mondialisation ». Les articles de ce numéro de la Revue internationale des sciences sociales sont tirés des nombreux exposés et documents de référence présentés à l’occasion de cette conférence. Ils donnent un aperçu des diverses questions importantes qui se posent aux fédérations actuelles.
