Le pouvoir langagier peut s’exercer par de nombreux biais en milieu de travail. Notamment, des questions concernant le plurilinguisme se posent dans ces contextes. à partir d’un travail de terrain mené en 2002-2003 dans une ONG basée à Montréal et œuvrant dans le secteur du développement durable et du commerce équitable, nous examinerons certaines des nouvelles manifestations des tensions de longue date entre l’unilinguisme francophone et le bi et multilinguisme, ou entre la promotion d’une québécité francophone et une inclusivité davantage pluraliste. Nous montrerons que les membres de l’ONG construisent la langue selon deux modalités contradictoires, mais complémentaires : comme une habileté technique ou, à l’inverse, comme un talent inné. Ainsi l’ONG demeure un espace (discursif) francophone homogène malgré le multilinguisme exigé par ses activités.
