Abstract
Cet article entreprend de décrire les principales caractéristiques d’une esthétique du flux déployée par des artistes, tels que Grégory Chatonsky, Reynald Drouhin, Leonardo Solaas, Alexandra Saemmer, etc. Cette esthétique repose sur l’utilisation de systèmes et de dispositifs informatiques qui forcent l’internaute à se perdre dans la contemplation d’un flot d’images, de sons et de mots que le cyberespace et son encyclopédie dynamique animent et rendent accessibles. Les figures ainsi générées sont essentiellement imprévisibles et instables, jouant sur des fluctuations constantes des signes, produites à partir de processus complexes inaccessibles à l’internaute, qui doit apprendre à s’approprier ce flux continu. Nous commencerons par expliquer à quelle expérience singulière nous convie le cyberespace. Nous essaierons ensuite de distinguer les trois modalités fondamentales auxquelles il donne lieu. Nous nous arrêterons dans un troisième temps à comprendre le concept même de flux, réflexion qui nous ouvrira la voie à la description des oeuvres hypermédiatiques qui exploitent le flux et ses diverses manifestations. L’esthétique du flux pose d’importants problèmes de spectature et l’on tentera, en conclusion, d’en identifier l’un des enjeux.
