Abstract
Cet article se propose d’explorer jusqu’à quel point les personnages de Nancy Huston sont des étrangers du dehors, même lorsqu’ils évoluent dans leur propre pays. L’auteure campe des personnages marginaux, exclus sous leur apparence de caméléons : non seulement sont-ils souvent exclus de leur communauté, ils portent un masque même lorsqu’ils semblent participer pleinement à la vie sociale de leur milieu. Nous nous baserons sur l’interprétation d’Éric Landowski sur l’appartenance ainsi que celle de Pierre Ouellet sur la communauté, pour démontrer que le dialogue (de sourds) exacerbe l’impression de « faire-semblant » qui se dégage des romans de Nancy Huston.
