Abstract
Cet article reproduit des textes que certains prosateurs de la Renaissance, historiens, chroniqueurs et essayistes, ont rédigés en s'inspirant des relations de voyage, histoires des découvertes comme aussi les dires de voyageurs et Amérindiens. À part ceux de Montaigne, ils sont pratiquement inconnus. Ainsi, je complète une enquête qui m'a jadis mené à publier toute une collection de poèmes exotiques dans un volume intitulé L'Amérique et les Poètes français de la Renaissance (textes présentés et annotés par Roger Le Moine, Ottawa, Éditions de l'Université d'Ottawa, 1972, 350 p. (Coll. Les Isles fortunées). Les textes sont, pour la plupart, précédés et suivis de courts commentaires mais sans qu'ils ne soient analysés. Ma démarche n'a consisté qu'à les rendre accessibles.
