Abstract
Cet article est un étude des processus dynamiques d’invention de nouvelles identités, de croyances et de formes de vivre produites par des Indiens chrétiens dans les frontières de l’Amazonie Coloniale. Ces frontières se sont constituées dans ce contexte comme des zones de contact entre des groupes divers : indigènes, blancs, noirs ou métis. Cet espace colonial s’est transformé, en raison des pratiques de religiosité populaire et de la mentalité magique, dans un espace de dialogues multiples où de nouvelles significations ont été construites à partir de normes culturelles traditionnelles. En utilisant les sources de l’inquisition, les pratiques de sorcellerie ont été lues comme productrices de nouvelles significations et de nouvelles formes de vie.
