Abstract
Pour l'État aux prises avec un déficit croissant depuis une quinzaine d'années, tous les moyens sont bons pour tenter de le réduire. La solution proposée par les néo-libéraux réside en un désengagement étatique à la faveur de l'initiative privée, pour l'économique, mais aussi pour le social. Ce transfert de responsabilités dans le domaine social camoufle cependant trop souvent des inégalités sociales et économiques accrues pour les femmes. Le présent article cherche à démontrer, par le biais d'une étude de cas portant sur les allocations familiales fédérales, le caractère inadéquat de cette solution néo-libérale pour les femmes.
