Abstract
L’institutionnalisation de la science économique québécoise francophone tire ses origines de l’École des Hautes Études commerciales de Montréal qui fournit le cadre institutionnel et les pionniers d’une discipline en construction. La profession d’économiste attire dans ses rangs un grand nombre de partisans du nationalisme qui orientent la discipline vers un registre bien particulier. Ces derniers vont s’inspirer de doctrines élaborées en Europe pour analyser une réalité toute nord-américaine. Les premiers travaux d’économique s’inscrivent d’ailleurs dans une volonté de transformer la société. En étudiant comment le climat idéologique a influencé la production scientifique des premiers économistes canadiens-français, on assiste à la naissance d’une discipline qui se cherche des modèles et qui désire concilier analyse scientifique et transformation de la société.
