Abstract
L’article porte sur l’évolution comparée de l’usage des notions de multifonctionnalité et de service environnemental dans les politiques agricoles. Constat est fait que si les notions de services écosystémiques et environnementaux s’affirment alors que disparaît celle de multifonctionnalité elles n’en constituent pas pour autant un substitut. Ces deux types de notions ont des histoires parallèles et sont portées par des acteurs différents. Les raisons de leurs destins inversés doivent être recherchées dans leur cohérence avec les nouveaux corpus normatifs en émergence au niveau international encadrant les interventions publiques en matière agricole, forestière et environnementale.
