Abstract
Nathalie Claude, a twenty-year veteran of Montreal's avant-garde, women's and queer theatre scenes, has created six solos since 1999. This article focuses on her most recent trilogy of solos, “The Madness Trilogy,“ which includes Lapine-moi/Rabbit-I, Cerveau fêlé 101/Broken Brain 101, and Salon automate/The Salon Automaton. This article illuminates Claude's creative process, especially with respect to the “things“ with which she works, outlines her solo performance style, and reflects on her inventive experiments with the solo performance form.
