Abstract
Reprenant les développements de Freud à propos de la religion du Père, le psychanalyste Jacques Lacan a soutenu que l’affirmation selon laquelle « Dieu est mort » n’exprime pas une position d’athéisme radical, mais au contraire le fait paradoxal que nul ne peut se dire vraiment athée. La mort de Dieu est ainsi au fondement de la croyance et de ses diverses manifestations religieuses. C’est ce qu’évoque le mythe freudien de Totem et tabou. À partir de là et dans le contexte philosophique des années 1960, Lacan proposera comme véritable formule de l’athéisme non pas que « Dieu est mort » puisqu’il l’est depuis toujours, mais que « Dieu est inconscient ». Cette contribution revient sur la définition lacanienne de l’athéisme afin de la mettre en rapport avec la thématique chrétienne de l’incarnation et le motif paulinien de la kénose. On souligne alors la façon dont l’incarnation, comprise comme mouvement de la kénose, permet de comprendre anthropologiquement ce qu’est le corps de l’humain.
