Résumé Dans son numéro du mois de mai 2004, la Revue Commerce publiait un article intitulé «Les 25 meilleurs sites Internet québécois» dans lequel figure le classement annuel des meilleurs sites selon une grille d’évaluation faite par des experts et où différentes variables comme la segmentation, la personnalisation, l’ergonomie de l’interface et la sécurité y sont mesurées. C’est la base de l’indice Internet Secor Commerce (ISC). Selon cet indice, tout bon site devrait répondre à une liste de critères prescrits par des experts. Les recherches effectuées à la Chaire de commerce électronique RBC Groupe Financier indiquent que de tels critères, bien que fort utiles aux gestionnaires, sont souvent très éloignés de l’efficacité réelle, telle que l’expérimentent les consommateurs qui fréquentent ces sites. De manière générale, nos recherches nous portent à conclure que plus un site est simple, plus il s’adapte aux besoins de son utilisateur, et plus il a de chances de trouver preneur auprès des consommateurs qu’il vise.
