Abstract
Pour les familles entendantes, la surdité de leur enfant est d'abord une déficience sensorielle, un handicap. Ignorants de la condition sourde, ils consultent des spécialistes qui proposent des réponses médico-pédagogiques centrées sur l'adaptation. Le monde des sourds oblige les parents à faire face à la question de l'altérité de l'entendant. L'intuition d'une créativité propre, liée à la surdité, née dans la relation à leur enfant, se trouve confirmée dans la découverte d'une culture sourde, là où l'idéologie éducative ne l'a pas totalement anéantie.
