Mainframes have yet to prove obsolete in the corporate computing environment. Their demise, you might say, has been greatly exaggerated. Findings from a Cutter Consortium survey support this contention. More than half of the respondents still have major applications running on mainframes; a quarter have more than half of their critical applications on the mainframe.
