Abstract
Le raid perpétré par un groupe d'Iroquois sur l'établissement naissant de l'île aux Oies, en 1655, aurait pu passer pour un triste événement parmi bien d'autres, durant cette pénible période d'hostilités entre Français et Iroquois. Cependant, outre le massacre du seigneur Moyen et de son épouse, l'enlèvement de leurs trois enfants et de deux autres d'une famille de colons, suivi par leur libération grâce à l'initiative d'habitants de Ville-Marie, a retenu l'attention de plusieurs auteurs de l'époque qui en ont fait le récit. Par la suite, l'incident a été oublié et ce n'est qu'aux XIX e et XX e siècles que certains historiens le rappelèrent dans leurs écrits. C'est la construction de ce récit et son inscription dans la mémoire collective à différentes époques qui sont examinées dans cet article.
