Abstract
Les données analysées proviennent de trois échantillons représentatifs de personnes âgées résidant à domicile, dans les villes de Hull et Trois-Rivières et dans le quartier de Hochelaga-Maisonneuve. Un premier modèle associe une à une un ensemble de variables hypothétiquement reliées au désir d'hébergement en institution, en contrôlant les modalités de cohabitation. Une analyse de régression multiple permet d'isoler l'interaction du mode de cohabitation avec les maladies chroniques et avec le nombre d'années de résidence dans la même demeure. Dans une perspective d'intervention, l'auteur conclut en faveur de programmes publics axés sur le réseau d'aide disponible à l'intérieur du domicile.
