Abstract
Consultant anaesthetist Scunthorpe General Hospital since 1995 (b 1961; q Guy's Medical School 1986; FRCA), was killed in a road traffic incident on 24 January 2002. Steven had special interests in the treatment of postoperative pain and in children's anaesthetics. He was an able trainer of junior colleagues and active in the management of the anaesthetic department and the hospital as a whole. A devoted family man and a lover of animals and the outdoor life, he was at his happiest working in his smallholding or walking his Newfoundland dogs with his family. He leaves a wife, Vicky; two children; and an unborn child due in March.
