Abstract
Canada represents a land mass of 9,976,140 sqkm of which approximately 40% lies north of60°. There are 5.6million Canadian childrenaged 14 or less; however, only 25,900 live innorthern regions (1). Nonetheless, Canadashares a responsibility to serve the needs ofcircumpolar child health with the small numberof existing circumpolar nations. The support ofacademic centres to these northern regions restsin large part with the academic child healthcommunity located in 17 academic healthscience centres spread across the “southernfringe” of the country.
