Abstract
L’article présente trois tournants historiques significatifs pour la Hongrie. Au cours de l’entre-deux-guerres, les théâtres hongrois s’efforcent de mettre en scène les ambitions nationales dans une programmation à forts accents politiques. Au tournant des années 1950, le pays adopte le modèle soviétique en matière politique, économique et culturelle. Les réformes de la vie théâtrale sont alors conduites par l’idéologie du régime. Quelques années plus tard (1954), le théâtre renonce au pouvoir dictatorial ; au cours de ces années, on peut constater que la vie théâtrale hongroise s’adapte aux décisions politiques guidant la politique intérieure et extérieure du pays. Aussi, les associations artistiques se voient-elles accordées plus d’indépendance et les auteurs et les oeuvres dramatiques, longtemps négligés, reprennent l’affiche.
