Abstract
Résumé L'assurance-crédit à l'exportation constitue un type particulier d'assurance, lié à l'État et à sa politique commerciale. L'une des principales sociétés d'assurance des risques à l'exportation, la COFACE, n'a pas fait l'objet d'études à caractère historique. Le présent article, portant sur ses deux premières décennies d'activité, est un essai dans ce sens. L'examen des rapports COFACE-État et des mécanismes de Г assurance-crédit à l'exportation conduit à une évaluation chiffrée des résultats de l'action de la COFACE pendant les vingt premières années de son existence. En vue de mettre ces résultats en perspective, la COFACE est confrontée à son équivalent canadien, la SACE. L'article ouvre la voie à de nouvelles études comparatives et historiques des plus importantes sociétés d'assurance des risques à l'exportation.
