Abstract
Nous discuterons du processus d’adaptation et de validation du « Home Caregiver Needs Survey (HCNS) » de Hileman (1990). Cet instrument de langue anglaise a été élaboré pour identifier les besoins des aidants familiaux à domicile aux États-Unis. Comme notre préoccupation visait les besoins et les attentes des aidants familiaux en soins palliatifs en centre hospitalier et à domicile et ce, dans un contexte culturel francophone minoritaire, le HCNS devait donc subir une adaptation et une validation. Les méthodes de traduction, d’adaptation linguistique et d’adaptation aux questions de recherche seront décrites. Le processus de validation par 29 experts en soins palliatifs sera exposé. Finalement, deux instruments de mesure ont émergé de ce processus, soit : un instrument de mesure des besoins et des attentes lorsque les soins sont offerts à domicile et un instrument de mesure des besoins et des attentes lorsque les soins sont offerts en centre hospitalier.
