Abstract
La désunion fait la force Survie et tensions chez les Sekani de la Colombie-Britannique La stratégie sekani d'inculcation et d'expression de l'unification politique fondée sur une définition exclusivement idéologique du groupe - stratégie déployée pour contrer l'empiétement d'étrangers - a conduit les Sekani à une impasse. Les valeurs médiatrices traditionnelles et les institutions ont perdu de leur signification et ont été limitées dans leur expression en raison des activités économiques euro-canadiennes. En conséquence, un autre principe traditionnel d'organisation, suivant lequel l'unité naît d'une histoire commune centrée sur le travail et la résidence, ne peut émerger : les tensions surgissent lorsque les gens se trouvent face à deux identités sociales conflictuelles, quoique également valables. Ce phénomène favorise l'émergence de comportements violents entre les personnes ayant une relation distinctive. particulièrement celles qui portent des patronymes différents.
